COVID-19; Protect the Frontliners

In the middle of washing hands frequently, maintenance of hygiene, and social distancing, it is imperative to pay the needed attention to the voices of these healthworkers; the frontliners, in curtailing the spread of the novel corona virus. Adequate welfarism, availability of PPEs, adequate security are basics need not be debated in any hospital. If we are at risk, you are at risk also. Lend your voice. #covid19  #nurses  #healthworkers  #PPEsnow  #thenursesjournal

Viral Virus on the go, Health Workers on the line

Novel corona virus, first of its kind, newly discovered strain from the coronaviruses family, gaining famous recognition notable for invoking the largest recorded lockdown on global economy, job market world wide. Apocalyptic, some have described it to be. Year in, year out, the rise of sporadic diseases gradually settling into endemics and then an epidemic, is on the daily increase. The primary line of action clamore...

Nursing Research: Tips for the Newbie Nurse in choosing a Research Topic

Research in Nursing has been existent over the years since the times of the pioneers of the profession. The term however, has remained abstract to many especially young student nurse researchers. As a 500L nursing student, I've been opportune to gather some research knowledge in the walls of the classroom and experiences as a volunteer research assistant. In all of these times, a major challenge I've observed worthy of note in the research process is in the aspect of choosing a topic. With my ongoing first research work though still at hand, I'm putting this piece together for colleagues (junior and senior) who might have been frustrated at one point or another or have had to change topics a few times going back and forth the research process. The field of healthcare sure covers a lot. Selecting the right topic for your research might pose a challenge, but you're not alone! I'll be dropping a few tips here. Read along, and I hope it would be helpful 😊 #1...

The Nurse and a New Year!

A beautiful happy new year to all amazing nurses out there who have given their total selves to care. The single most important tool utilized by nurses indeed is the use of self. Welcome to 2020. An International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife set aside by the World Health Organization to celebrate nurses all over the world in honour of the 200th birth anniversary of the mother of Nursing, Florence Nightingale. Fig. 1.0 Source: American College of Nursing “This milestone celebration offers a platform to raise the visibility of nurses and increase the capacity of the nursing workforce. Nurses occupy many roles in our society and are on the front lines when it comes to immunizations, natural disaster preparedness, shaping health policy, and advocacy. For this reason, nurses are critical in improving the landscape of health and health care because an effective health care system is one that values all nurses.” {ANA President Ernest Grant, Ph.D., RN, FAAN} Year 2020 is defini...
