THE PREMIERE ONE NIGHT PASTA STAND

The art of culinary skills is indeed magical. Nursing is Art, with a Heart. It is no wonder there is a perfect mix here of food, art, and fun.

The Nigerian Universities Nursing Students' Association - Lagos State University College of Medicine Chapter held its premiere Cooking Competition, themed Pasta Plaza, on the College Multipurpose Court, on 30th of November, 2018.

The Competition was aimed at expressing and building culinary skills, thereby, improving total nutrition amongst students within the College. With over 100 people in attendance, this was in every bit fulfilled as we received notes and comments from many people saying how much they appreciated the practical information shared.

The Chairperson; Planning Committee, also the Social Director of the administrative tenure, in person of Miss Ayo Oluwabukola, elaborated on the theme; Pasta Plaza.
This was coined out of the pressing need to meet nutritional balance among the student populace within the College. A meal checking the boxes of quick, easy, delicious, and healthy.

The Judges, professional Chefs in persons of Miss Odeseye Moshope and Miss Saidi Omolara, explained explicitly the rules of the competition and what they were looking forward to in each contestant.
There were 3 contestants in all. A total of 15 minutes was set to put a good pasta meal together.

Other activities, like interactive sessions, games, questions and answers, raffle draw, went on alongside.

Then the moment that had long been waited for, arrived. Food was ready. Thereafter, presentation and food assessment went on immediately.
Soon after, the Judges had the floor for analysis, scrutiny, announcement of results, and presentation of gifts.
The contestants were judged based on appearance, kitchen management, time management, food presentation, taste, and diet balance.
Hygiene was chiefly stressed on, chitchat in the kitchen was stressed to be minimized, and a balanced and nutritious diet could not be overemphasized.

At the end of an impactful session, the results were announced, with Miss Ola-gbadamosi Taiwo coming 3rd place, Miss Rufai Sofiat coming 2nd place, and Miss Taiwo Temitope emerging as the winner of the Competition and the Chef of the Evening.
Gifts and certificates were awarded thereafter, with rounds of photo sessions.

Of momentous significance, there was in attendance, a representative of the Department, in person of Mrs. Ojeleye Olajumoke whose utmost support and counsel saw through the realization of the programme.

The vote of thanks was taken by the President, Comrade Ayangbemi Taofeek, with him appreciating the sponsors, the guests, the judges, contestants, and everyone in attendance for their time and a good job well done.

The programme came to a successful close with lots of eating, drinking, merry making and unending rounds of selfies and photo sessions.

De Pioneer Student Nurse

My first Clinical Experience

My name is Olubukola Sharon Ayo. As a 3rd year Nursing student, I've managed to survive 2 and half out of 5 years. It's been well, interesting. The every morning alarm.. The daily hustle and bustle..
