EXAMINATION PRO TIPS
I'm in a relationship with my books, and right now, it's complicated.
Examinations are knocking again. Never been the best news.
No matter how much you try, how much of a good student you are, there is still a bit of agitation hanging somewhere.
As Nurses, we'll be quick to give an actual diagnosis of Anxiety related to upcoming examinations evidenced by palpitations.
Hey.. Let's relax. It's wise to remember that examinations are not here as punishment, but a way of testing to see how much knowledge we've acquired.
I'll be using these tips I learnt from my teachers and through personal study, in my upcoming examinations. As always, I've come to share.
Firstly, it's important we learn to reduce anxiety. Shake it all off. Calm it down. Reflect your mind to previous examinations written. One of two outcomes were bound to happen, and thereafter? We survived, didn't we?
Concentration is so much easier in a relaxed mind. If anything is going to improve assimilation, it is this.
You can talk to someone (a like - mind) to help decrease your anxiety. Focus positive. Talk positive.
Secondly, gain Confidence. If you read through my last blog post, you would recall I emphasized on Study groups and Discussions. This truly, will help you maintain your sanity in these times. Don't be reluctant to lead a discussion group. Study, write notes, complete your revision, then teach others. Doing this, you're sure to grab more stuff, within less time.
Exercise and Recreation: Please do not take this away. Do not reduce your sleep drastically. Your body needs it. Stay healthy, take breaks, sleep healthy.
Time scheduling: Working with your personal timetable, readjust your difficult courses to times when you feel refreshed. For example, in the morning when you wake. Assimilation is easier here. You can fix the less difficult courses for later during the day.
Also, set revision mocks for yourself and see how well you do. This will help in evaluating how far you've covered, and expose deficits.
Finally, on the day of examination, remember your Spiritual Health is important. Relax, pray, wear confidence, believe in yourself, and act it out!
Success to every student out there writing examinations soon!
